Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off to the Doctor We Go....

The school year is off to a great start, but inevitably the germs have arrived at our house! Maddy started having cold symptoms late on Sat. night, which we know by now always turn into a cough! She did start coughing on Monday, so I started the normal routine of rounding up the Albuterol, etc. I gave her one breathing treatment and realized we were out of it. I called the allergy Dr. and they said she was way over due for a check-up. Of course we haven't brought her in, because well, you know she hasn't been sick! So, they agreed to call in the medicine I needed, but said to bring her in yesterday afternoon. In the meantime, Ally now has cold symptoms and on Tuesday night would not go to sleep. She ended up in our bed, tossing and turning and crying out! Needless to say, we did not get much sleep! I knew that something must be wrong, because this child always sleeps well! Well unless she has an ear infection, which is what I found out after a quick trip to her pediatrician's office yesterday morning! I also, especially after my night of little sleep felt horrible and have actually felt bad for a while. I have had a lot of allergy/sinus issues lately. Well I also went to my Dr. yesterday and found out that I have a sinus infection. My Dr. thinks that the one I had back in July never really went away and that is why I've been feeling like crap lately! Well he fixed me up with a new, stronger antibiotic and some other goodies. I have to go back in a few weeks and if this infection is not gone then, he'll send me for a cat scan of my sinuses. Fun, Fun! I just want some relief! So, then I took Maddy to her appt. after picking her up from school a little early. We found out that she too has an ear infection and will also be on an antibiotic! She said that her ear wasn't even hurting. She did however wake up coughing horribly this morning at 3:45 a.m. and needed a breathing treatment! So, all I can say right now is thank goodness for health insurance. Between the 3 trips to 3 different doctors yesterday and the list of prescriptions I took to get filled last night, the $'s really started to add up! The kitchen counter looks like a pharmacy!

Today's Update - Ally slept all night in her own bed (thanks to the numbing ear drops and Motrin), I made it out of bed today, Maddy made it to school today and I haven't gotten a call to come and get her yet! I did talk to the school nurse and was able to leave Maddy some Albuterol in the nurses office, just in case she needs it at school! I hate to have her miss school when she 1) says she feels fine and wants to go 2)does NOT have a fever and 3)know that she will inevitably be even more sick sometime between now and May.

The good news is that so far Brian and Lilly are hanging in there! I'm sure their time will come! The other good news is that despite not feeling well, I made my booty get going today and cleaned/lysoled the whole house! I sure hope it helps! ;)
