Stake Girls Activity Day...

This past Saturday we had a Stake Primary Activity for the girls ages 8 to 11. It was the first one that I have ever helped plan and carry out since getting my new Stake calling. It was a lot of work and took a lot of planning, but I think all in all it was a huge success. We had over 100 girls, which was a big deal, considering last year they only had about 80 show up. The theme was a LUAU and we had 4 classes for the girls to rotate through.

After the classes we had lunch, Hawaiian Hay Stacks, of course and with all the girls and the leaders we fed around 130 people. The final activity was that we had a family there to perform some Polynesian Dances and teach the girls how to hula. They all seemed to really like that part as it was very entertaining to watch! I'm actually now looking forward to planning next year's activity, especially since Maddy will be old enough to attend. I love how uplifting activities like these can be for our youth. There always seems to be so much negativity in the world around them. Events like this, give them a chance to have fun with other girls their ages with similar values and beliefs and at the same time hopefully helps them to build their self esteem and become more aware of who they really are - daughters of God!
